Kremlin Equestrian School Performing along the Moscow Cossacks Choir at the Spasskaya Tower Festival

The Kremlin Equestrian School, permanent participant of the Spasskaya Tower Festival, have run through their new show program to be presented this year on Moscow’s Red Square. The rehearsal was held at the Kremlin Equestrian School base at the Almazovo Sports and Riding Club.

“Today we’ve had another run through of our new Festival’s program that, to my mind, is very exciting”, told Andrey Nenashev, captain of the Kremlin Equestrian School. “In terms of theme and picture it will be completely different from the program we staged for the 2019 Festival run. Back then it was based on popular rock music pieces, riders were wearing jeans, white T-shirts and sunglasses, bringing contemporaneity to the fore. This year we are going back to our traditions. Thus, part of the show will be staged to the live accompaniment of the Moscow Cossacks Choir. Currently we are engaged in getting horses used to sounds of a live performance as it is pretty intricate both for animals and riders. Members of the choir also have to adapt to our rhythm”, he added.

According to Mr Nenashev, the Cossacks theme will get continuation in the costumes. Riders of the Kremlin Equestrian School will wear traditional woolen coats and hats known as cherkeskas and papakhas. This new show obviously will not lack jigitovka or trick riding. Audiences will witness a breathtaking and vivid program full of music and horse riding.

Mr Nenashev also mentioned about successes that his team managed to achieve at the National and World Trick Riding Championships held in early August at the Zvezdniy Sports and Riding Club situated in the Moscow Region. Riders of the schools secured victories in the categories of special trick riding, freestyle trick riding and all-around (AA) competition. Russia’s three best riders represented the country at the World Championship held right after the national event, taking the first and third places in the AA competition.
