Ten Best Russia’s Ministry of Defense Music Bands Will Join the 2023 Line-Up of the Spasskaya Tower Festival

Go back

Set against the spectacular backdrop of the ancient Moscow Kremlin walls, the Sixteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo will bring together a cast of over 700 military musicians from some of the best music ensembles of the Russia’s Ministry of Defense.
Staged between August 26 and September 3, the Spasskaya Tower Festival will showcase an array of homegrown acts full of iconic music pieces and dazzling surprises. Sounds of splendid military marches and lively waltzes, national melodies and popular hits will be flowing over Moscow’s Red Square, while vivid storytelling of dance and precision drill will wow crowds on the stands.

This year the cobblestones of Red Square will host performers from the Central Military Band of the Russian MoD, the Exemplary Military Band of the Honor Guard, the Military Band and Honor Guard Unit of the 154 Preobrazhensky Regiment, the 23d Band of the Western Military District, the Military Band of the First Air and Missile Defense Army of the Russian Aerospace Forces and many others.

As per a long-standing tradition the Central Band of the Russian Navy named after Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov will once again bring the marine vibes onto the tattoo’s arena. The Combined Military Band of the Russian Airborne Forces will also be back to stun crowds with their might, vigor and sparkling nature, which is sure to send sparks flying.

No show, for sure, will be complete if it doesn’t bring on board the young talents from the Suvorov Cadet Band of the Moscow Military Music College named after Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov and the All-Russian Boarding School of the Russia MoD. The tattoo audience’s all-time favorites, they always season their performances with youthful drive and moving romantic touches.

Major General Timofey Mayakin, Music Director of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival and chief military conductor, said:
“We are grateful to all our loyal audiences and admirers and would like to bring new music fans along. Thus, we’ve been thoroughly preparing for the Spasskaya Tower Festival’s new sixteenth cycle. Throughout the year some of the best Russian military musicians have been engaged in preparations to strike and impress the audiences. We are looking forward to meeting all our guests and treating them to this beautiful celebration of music”.

The Spasskaya Tower Festival is carried out following the Order of President of Russia Vladimir Putin under the patronage of the Public Council led by Mr Alexander Zhukov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and with the continued support of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
