Staged between August 26 and September 3 on Moscow’s Red Square, the Sixteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo will welcome the Banda Monumental Music and Dance Orchestra. Coming directly from Mexico, the band’s musicians and dancers will wow the audiences with a spectacular performance full of traditional vibes, mariachi and Son music.
The Banda Monumental Music and Dance Orchestra traces its history back to 2016, when music teacher Roberto Carlos Rodríguez formed a small artistic team whose aesthetics genuinely represented Mexico’s rich traditions and culture. Enriching the quality of a comprehensive or everyday show by incorporating the best elements of music, dance and acrobatics has always been the ensemble’s fundamental aim.
With the help of his fellow colleagues and collaborators Roberto Carlos Rodríguez focuses and is actively engaged in promoting Mexican national culture outside his country. The band’s musicians master different musical styles with versatility, banda, symphonic, philharmonic and mariachi, among others.
Based in Mexico City, the country’s capital, the Banda Monumental orchestra is made up mainly of artists from the central region, featuring Guanajuato and Querétaro states as well as the Metropolitan Area. With more than 170 musicians and dancers, the Banda Monumental orchestra consists of representatives of 11 separate artistic groups, featuring Folkloric Ballet of the Technological Institute of Celaya, Mexico City Folkloric Dance Company, Mexican Folkloric Dance Company, Son Lince, Mesti Son and others.
All the teams rehearse separately, each onsite its own venue, making rehearsal days blend in before each event to achieve the characteristic synergy, thus maintaining the styles of each leader, and by putting them together achieving the perfect result.
The Banda Monumental Music and Dance Orchestra will bring a vibrant burst of colors and the excitement of their traditional art forms, including sparkling dances and unforgettable traditional melodies. No doubt, the Mexican musicians and dancers are coming to Moscow to stun the guests of the Sixteenth Spasskaya Tower Festival.
The Spasskaya Tower Festival is carried out following the Order of President of Russia Vladimir Putin under the patronage of the Public Council led by Mr Alexander Zhukov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and with the continued support of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Moscow Government Department of Culture. The Festival also enjoys support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives through a presidential grant.
