The Honor Guard of the Presidential Regiment of the Moscow Kremlin Commandant’s Service of the Federal Guard Service of the Russian Federation
The Honor Guard of the Presidential Regiment of the Moscow Kremlin Commandant’s Service of the Federal Guard Service of the Russian Federation was formed in 1976.
Supporting state official events and serving in the Honor Guard at the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier are the main tasks of the unit’s members. They also perform at the ceremonial foot and horse guard mounting on the Kremlin’s Cathedral Square, take part in the solemn events dedicated to the President’s swear into office ceremony. The group has several times participated in various international military festivals held in Great Britain, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, and other countries.
Members of the unit wear a specially elaborated ceremonial uniform. Parts of the outfit resemble the
parade uniform of the Russian Imperial Guard of the 1909–1913. This resemblance serves
to single out how Russian military traditions are carried on. Simonov’s
