The Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Ministry of Defense of Russia
The Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, founded in 1927, is the leading artistic group of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and one of the most famous orchestras in the world.
The Band, known for its high academic performing quality, thoroughly chosen repertoire with the priority given to the Russian contemporary music and classics, virtuoso and highly professional musicians, has won the love of audience from all over the world.
The Band participates in the main social, politic and cultural events, including the state top protocol events, annual parades on the Red Squire, as well as official events in the Russian regions and abroad. The Band regularly performs on the most prestigious stages such as the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Concert Hall named after Tchaikovsky, the Moscow International House of Music, Georgievsky and Aleksandovsky Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace and the other concert halls in Russia.
The official reference recording of the State Anthem of the Russian Federation (as well as the one of the State Anthem of the USSR) was made by the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. The Bans has also recorded the golden collection of the Russian military music and more than 600 musical records stored in the State Collection of Television and Radio Programs. For the last decade the Band has recorded more than ten CD with Russian, foreign and military music.
The Band is honored to present the Russian military culture in the framework of the international military music festivals in Russia and abroad.
The tours of the Band to Austria, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, The UK, Germany, Denmark, Israel, China, Korea, Malta, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, the USA, France, Switzerland and Sweden became remarkable cultural event. The various activity of the Band and its talent to charm the audience are the result of both high proficiency and organizational structure. The Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of Russia consists of two independent music bands — the wind band and symphony orchestra. On their base a string quartet, a jazz ensemble and a brass quintet were established.
From 2010 the head of the Band is the Honored Artist of the Russian federation, Colonel Sergey Durygin.
