VII International Military Music Festival “The Amur Waves” Began in Khabarovsk

Go back

From May 25 to June 2 performances staged by the Festival participants could be seen during the Gala concert and theatrical procession celebrating the City Day of Khabarovsk as well as during the Marching bands’ parade, three evening concerts traditionally held on Glory Square on the background of Transfiguration Cathedral and Festival gala concert of military bands in Platinum Arena. Besides several groups taking part in the Festival will stage individual concerts.

Over seven years of its history the Festival has become one of the meaningful events in the cultural life of the Far East region.

Among this year’s international participants are the Exemplary Band of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Brass Band of the Military Music College of the National Defense University of Mongolia and the International Celtic Massed Pipes and Drums from Scotland. Our country will be presented by the traditionally remarkable performances of the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Fiesta Drum Corps of the Moscow Military Music College named after v. M. Khalilov, the Headquarters Band of the Russian Pacific Fleet (Vladivostok), the Headquarters Band of the Far Eastern Military District (Khabarovsk), the Band of the Military Unit 25030–4 (Kamchatka), the Band of the Far Eastern Higher Combined Arms Command School named after Marshal of the Soviet Union K. Rokossovsky (Blagoveshchensk) and others.

“The Amur Waves” is a peer of the “Spasskaya Tower” Festival. The idea of holding this musical forum belongs to the irreplaceable musical director of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” Valeriy Khalilov. During the first festival upon the initiative of Valeriy Khalilov the world’s only Alley of Military Musicians was founded in Khabarovsk. Since then musicians not only visit the already planted trees but every new participant of the festival plants its own young tree bearing the name of the band. This year is no different. The trees are growing, and “The Amur Waves” melodies continue playing.
