Go back

On May 19 the annual “Military Bands in the Parks” program was successfully launched in the capital. The program is being realized by the Directorate of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” sponsored by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and Government of Moscow.

The first concerts of the Program were held: on May 19 — in the Alexander Garden, Manezh and Borovitskaya squares, May 26 — in Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill. The Muscovites and guests of the capital warmly welcomed the musicians and didn’t leave the venues until the last chord was played and asked to play an encore. As usual while assisting military bands performances viewers begin waltzing and singing along well-known and cherished melodies.

Due to the high popularity of the concert cycle of the bands playing in the parks and gardens of Moscow the Directorate of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” decided to make a present to all the admirers of wind music and organize within the events dedicated to the celebrations of the Children’s Day two concerts of the “Military Bands in the Parks” program in Moscow on June 2.

The President’s Band of the Service of Moscow Kremlin’s Commandant of the Federal Guard Service of the Russian Federation is going to perform at 3 p.m. in the Alexander Garden near the Italian grotto.

The band is a permanent participant and landmark of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” as well as the main band that plays at official ceremonies and receptions when high-ranking officials are invited, including heads of states, governments and diplomatic delegations. In addition to the wind orchestra, the band also includes a symphonic orchestra and a symphonic pop orchestra, making it possible to broaden the repertoire from classical and folk music to rock compositions.

Head of the Band — Colonel Vera Krylova.

Conductor of the Band, Honored Artist of Russia — Colonel Evgeny Nikitin.

The Military Band of the Military University of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is going to perform its concert program at 5 p.m. in the Muzeon Park on Krymskaya embankment.

Today the band with dignity and honor retains and augments the glorious traditions of 80 years of the bands artistic activities. The group annually participates in the military parades on Red Square dedicated to the Victory day in the Great Patriotic War and to the legendary parade, dedicated to the 7th of November 1941.

The band musicians always master their level of performance, update their musical repertoire and carry on large artistic activities as well as stage performances on the central venues of Moscow such as the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Central Academic Theatre of the Russian Army, cultural center of the Air Force of the Russian Federation.

Head of the Military University — Major General Igor Mishutkin.

Military Conductor — Major Filip Samonin.

Entrance is free! Everybody dance!
